About Us

Reeves County is one of the largest counties in Texas, encompassing a vast landscape of communities, rolling plains, mountains, and farmland that require emergency protection. Continued growth driven by the oil and gas industry has increased both the population and the potential for emergency incidents.

The Reeves County Emergency Services District Nos. 1 and 2 were created in August 2019 to provide fire protection and emergency medical services throughout Reeves County. The Districts are separate political subdivisions of the State of Texas, each governed by a five-member Board of Emergency Services Commissioners appointed in accordance with Texas law. The Districts are primarily funded through local property taxes.

Together, the Districts provide fire and EMS coverage across 2,626 square miles, serving approximately 17,000 residents, thousands of transient workers, and two major interstate highways that traverse the county.

Board Members

A Board of five commissioners governs each ESD. The Commissioners are appointed to two-year terms by the Reeves County Commissioners Court. The ESD Board of Commissioners is the source of authority and governance for each District and has final say over all matters affecting the ESD.
